The International Film Festival is organized by the Venice Biennale and takes place between late August and early September in the historic Palazzo del Cinema at Lido di Venezia.
It’s the oldest film festival in the world, just think that the first edition took place in 1932 and was very successful then. The first film screened was "Dr. Jeckill and Mr. Hide"
From 1935 the festival began to take place annually and two years later the Cinema Palace (built in record time) was inaugurated. The 40’s (after the break during the War) the exhibition saw many international directors and over the years Japanese and Indian cinema became known in the West thanks to the Venice Festival.
This year will be held the 80th edition of the festival that over the years has undergone many influences from the historical/political period but remains and will always remain a glamorous event to mark in the agenda :-)
