SAINT MARK'S DAY and BOCOLO

Is the Venice Patron Day and the Bocolo feast.

"Bocolo" is a Venetian word that mean bud.
The Bocolo legend concerns a romantic and sad love story that tell the love between Maria (Doges' daughter) and Tancredi of humble origin. The Doge did not accept this relationship because of the origins of the ypung Tancredi and sent him to fight in war so that he would prove to deserve the love of Maria.
Unfortunately, Tancredi dies and Maria received a red rose soacked in Tancredi's blood. Maria displeased commited suicide. From that every 25th of April men gives to their beloved a red rosebud.
